Hartman Rocks

The start of the journey set the tone for the next day. I mean riding from one's lodging to restaraunt and back, parking bikes outside, leaving the door open? What's not to love?

It was decided we run a local loop, Hartman Rocks. It's a little lower elevation (elevation 7,700') out of courtesy for the Phx desert dwellers (elevation 1,100').

We get introduced to Firebrand Deli.

A Breakfast of Kings is partaken. The house specialty is waffles, so, waffles become the order. And just so the waffle doesn't get lonely, whipped cream, bananas, maple syrup (no powdered sugar here) and scrambled eggs. In some places and for some people more cynical than I (are there any?), the special is what makes the most money or is composed of supplies about to expire. However, at the independant business owner's establishment, where pride is served, it means special. And this is just such an establishment. Go there, if you get the chance.

It's a short drive out to Hartman Rocks, beside a golf course and through a rock quarry. The trails are varied, fun tech features, and flowy slopes with bermed corners. Rode a good loop, including trails with names like The Luge, The Ridge, Beck's Tech Loop, Dirty Sock and Enchanted Forest. Good Riding. But enough talk, here's some riding.

Good days ride, head back to the casa, and catch a little siesta.

A little rest complete, now time to stage for tomorrow's run. Head toward Salida, drop a vehicle at Poncha Springs and hit the local pizza place -Moonlight.  Excellent.

Let's see, by last count, it's:

1. Bike Ride
2. Mountains
3. Pizza
4. Sleep the sleep of the just.
