a good saturday

The Saturday morning bike started out with a sky doing something like this:

With skies like that, you know it's going to be a good day.  Several chore type tasks needed done today as well.  You know, things like, vacuum the house, change the oil in the truck, get a haircut and make roasted garlic onion jam.  What isn't that something that always gets made at your house?  Mine either.  But after reading this:

yum.

I knew I needed to try it.  So, the onions and garlic were procured at the farmer's market and the wheels set in motion.  First off, chop the onion and start it cooking.  Then comes the roast garlic.

Yes sir.  Looking good and smelling great in the house.  Cook for another 45 minutes or so, and then add the final ingredients.  Now, for the real test.

Yeah, that was superb.  Cool fall day out, warm jam on crusty bread.  I even had some goat's milk gouda to go along with it.  The kind of good that makes your eyes roll back in your head.  Even saved a bit.

It was a great Saturday.  Now, on to Thanksgiving.

  1. hey! so glad the post and recipe inspired someone... i'm noticing that your jam came out quite a bit darker than ours... what'd you do?! more balsamic?

  2. Wow, missed your comment. I am assuming it was using red onions and brown sugar, the color did throw me a bit as well.
