Even though we made a run not long ago, we decided to make the hoof up Elden Rd just so we could run through Hobbit Forest. At the top of Elden, a well-deserved sandwich and a mini-siesta were in order. Yeah, it was pine scented sunshine and a blue-bird sky, a little breeze and a person couldn’t help but dream about a life worth living. With all those things combined, the sunflower seed butter and strawberry jelly sammich pretty much was golden.
After a little rest and some sustenance, we head off down the cat walk trail and into Hobbit Forest.
Hobbit forest is such a hoot, big round rollers strung one after the other. Surely there are round doors hidden somewhere there. Onward, through the aspens and pines we head.
The recent rains and sunshine have sent the flower spigot into full spray mode, sprouting yellows, purples, white, reds, and fungi – wait that’s not a color, but it sure does have color. This fungi appears to be the hallucinogenic amanita muscaria or at least a power up that dropped out of Mario’s world.
Tremendous ride. But then, I have a friend who says “you say that about every ride” eh, maybe I do. Well, this one has one last surprise in store for me. Just riding along, I decide to head over a boulder which we had played on a couple weeks ago. We have video of said playin’. Well, this time, didn’t have quite enough speed for a loft so in the moment I was looking over the edge I decided to roll it. Bad choice, way too much elevation loss to sustain that front wheel forward motion. Yep, endo. Tuck and roll, hear Kev say “uh oh” and then I roll over and stand up. Not much hurting, little road rash on the shoulder and a little dirt on the pack, which was on my back, the portion of me that is to be facing upwards.
Huh, well, for an endo, not bad. And way better than that Father’s Day gift awhile back. [link]
So, ride completed, blood sugar waning, it’s time to hit up some grub. In this case, it comes in the form of a Triple Sausage and Mushroom pizza. Something about that state after exertion, makes the pizza, well, any salty food, taste supreme.

Another great trip in the books so to speak. They always end so quickly.
